Online Service Enables Public to Lookup Registered Narcotics Handlers

Oklahoma citizens and field agents can now visit the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drug Control (OBNDD) Web site, and locate the OBN Registration Search Utility. The search utility enables citizens and field agents to view information about all registered narcotics handlers in the state of Oklahoma and view if they are in good standing with the Board.

Citizens can also search to see if their veterinarians or medical practitioners have active licenses and no disciplinary actions associated with their name. 

The online service also enables OBNDD field agents to login and view results of cases they may be working on at the time. Traditionally, field agents who needed further information about a registrant would have to call OBNDD. Now agents can skip this step, log into the system, and find all available data on any registrant licensed through the state of Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) is pleased to announce a new Web site where the public can now access ODOT’s traffic monitoring system. The site provides pictures of Oklahoma City and Tulsa metro highway and interstate traffic. The Web site is overseen by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.

Drivers will be able to access the new traffic monitoring site from any computer with Internet access. Users can view traffic conditions, refreshing less than every two minutes. After agreeing to user terms, drivers can navigate the site and choose among 17 Oklahoma camera locations or 12 in Tulsa, each displaying multiple stationary views. From the site, drivers can see traffic conditions and make route decisions based on content, ultimately saving time and gas.

“This is a monumental step for the public and the department. We are pleased to be able to share images and help motorists with making informed driving decisions. Accessing the Web site before traveling has several benefits such as cutting down delays, emissions and stress. With the cost of gas on the rise, a few miles saved can make a lot of difference,” ODOT Director Gary Ridley said.

The traffic monitoring Web site is one of many phases being implemented under ODOT’s federally-funded Intelligent Transportation System Program. To date, the ITS program has invested approximately $9 million in traffic monitoring systems which includes all necessary equipment, Web site maintenance as well as 18 strategically-placed Dynamic Message Signs across the metros. The DMS boards provide real-time information to motorists.

Support from the Federal Highway Administration and the University of Oklahoma has been integral in assisting program implementation. Future plans will allow expansion on both the road and on the Web with more real-time DMS boards planned as well as increased coverage on the Web.

Oklahoma Inmates Now Enrolled in Tracking System

Crime victims will now be able to locate any of the more than 25,000 inmates in the custody of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections (DOC) at any time thanks to a partnership between DOC and the Attorney General's Office.

Last week, DOC fully enrolled in the VINE criminal tracking system, which is being implemented in law enforcement agencies across the state.

"We are pleased that VINE is now operational through the Department of Corrections," Attorney General Drew Edmondson said. "Through DOC's diligent work, Oklahomans will now have 24-hour-a-day access to information they could previously obtain only from a live person during business hours. The system will be available to everyone, but the information is particularly valuable to crime victims who are concerned about their safety and that of their loved ones. I commend DOC Director Justin Jones and his staff for their commitment to this program."

VINE stands for Victim Information and Notification Everyday. The program allows Oklahomans to be notified, either by phone or e-mail, of changes in a particular inmate's status. Status changes include transfer, release, escape or death.

"We are excited about the opportunity this will provide for crime victims to be automatically notified of status changes of DOC inmates," said Robbie Fullerton, DOC victim liaison. "We are in the process of notifying persons already registered to receive notification through DOC to let them know that they should now sign up for VINE. However, citizens interested in receiving updates regarding upcoming parole proceedings will still have to call the Pardon and Parole Board."

The program is currently in place in 66 counties, and should be operational in the remaining counties by the end of August.

Announcing the 2008 OK.gov State Employee Night at the Brick!

On Friday August 1st, OK.gov invites state employees and their families to join us for a fun-filled night at the Bricktown Ballpark to celebrate state employees and the work they do for the state as our RedHawks take on the Las Vegas 51’s. 

OK.gov will provide state employees with coupons to be redeemed for actual tickets at the ballpark prior to the game. Coupons are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and will be available for pickup during the afternoon of July 31st at the state capitol from 11 am – 1 pm. Employees may also pick up coupons at the ballpark prior to the game. At the state capitol, state employees can register to win prizes and meet Rowdy the RedHawk!  

There is a five coupon limit per employee and coupons are only available to employees (agency affiliation is required). 

The coupon requests Web site will be available on www.OK.gov beginning July 7th, 2008.
