14,000 Professionals Can Now Renew Narcotics Registrations Online “The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics is committed to streamlining our processes and making the registration cycle efficient and fiscally responsible. We will eliminate cumbersome paper handling issues that plague all of government. The Bureau works tirelessly with our medical community and registrants to make a safer Oklahoma. OK.gov has been a tremendous conduit in facilitating our online registration endeavor and should be applauded for their partnership and efforts,” commented R. Darrell Weaver, Director of Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drug Control. The registration process enables registrants to pay online with Visa, MasterCard and electronic check payments utilizing OK.gov’s secure payment engine. Upon completing the renewal process, registrants can print their certificates, thus reducing mailing and printing costs for OBNDD. OBNDD estimates $3,500 in cost savings for the first year as a result of the online registration renewal.
State Election Board Launches Polling Place Locator State Election Board Secretary Michael Clingman recently announced the launch of a new polling place locator feature on the State Election Board's Web site. "The polling place locator may help thousands of Oklahomans verify the locations of their precinct polling places for the upcoming elections," Clingman said. Registered voters need only to enter their last name, date of birth, and Zip Code and the locator produces a list of possible matches. The voter selects his or her name from the list and receives the name and address of the assigned polling place as well as a list of his or her Congressional, State Senate, State House, and County Commissioner Districts. In the event that the locator is unable to match the voter's information, the voter should call his or her local County Election Board office directly. The locator also provides the appropriate contact information. "The polling place locator is a great tool for Oklahoma voters who just need to verify their correct place to vote on election day," Clingman said. "Voters can access the polling place locator from any computer connected to the internet at any time, including on election day when it may be difficult to reach their local County Election Board office by telephone."
"Go Green Oklahoma" Initiative Showcases How eGovernment Reduces the Carbon Footprint Go Green Oklahoma is an innovative program showcasing how Oklahoma eGovernment is helping to reduce the carbon footprint by cutting down paper-based processes and citizen travel to government facilities. Go Green Oklahoma was launched in May of 2008 and currently provides data from online license renewal systems developed by OK.gov. Currently, OK.gov online license renewals reduced paper consumption amongst state agencies by over 245,500 sheets of paper during a 14 month period. We invite state agencies to report their online services that reduce paper consumption and/or carbon emissions to be included in our data. An integrated form enables state agencies to easily report their “Green” data on their online services, available through "report your online service". Go Green Oklahoma is available only online, helping to reduce CO2 emissions associated with paper consumption and the transport of printed material.
New Kids Web site Provides Students with "Code for Kids" Resources “Code for Kids”, is a unique program providing resources to kids interested in learning how to code. “Code for Kids” is a solution to a recent problem brought forth to OK.gov by a 5th grade student with a heart to code. The student had lost interest in school and wanted to drop out. In efforts of revitalizing the student’s interest in staying in school, the student’s teacher sent him to OK.gov for a day to learn more about his interest in programming. OK.gov employees were personally touched by the student’s story and were inspired to create a section on the portal to assist other kids in learning how to code.
