Many drugs are difficult or painful to use without a suitable delivery system. This $1.8 million 2-year EDGE project is for process development, documentation and characterization of a sugar polymer for use as a drug delivery agent being commercialized by Heparinex, LLC, the applicant. Heparinex is developing this market-disrupting, next generation alternative to re-tool and extend patent life on several billion-dollar drugs currently on the market, as well as assist other promising drug candidates that possess delivery complications.
