OCAST workshops target plant science research

OCAST workshops, training opportunities available to Oklahomans who choose to apply for the Oklahoma Plant Science Research program, are scheduled in three cities beginning August 30.

OCAST is the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology.

Workshops are scheduled in the following locations:

• August 30, Kruse Auditorium, 2510 Sam Noble Parkway, Ardmore
• August 31, McClure Hall, University of Tulsa
• September 1, Oklahoma State University Student Union, Stillwater

Oklahoma scientists conducting basic and applied research in the field of plant sciences are eligible to compete for the OCAST plant sciences funding. Applications will undergo peer review and funds will be awarded based on merit, collaborative effort and the leverage of federal and private funds.

Plant science holds promise for finding cures for disease, new sources of energy and innovative new fibers for mankind. OCAST has $709,656 available for this competition.

September 22 is the deadline for having statements of intent from applying researchers in to the OCAST Oklahoma City office. Application must be in Tulsa or Oklahoma City offices no later than October 13.
