HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE / REVIEW
The Board of Veterinary Medical Examination does not receive any appropriations from general revenue. All fees,
renewal fees, and penalties are deposited into the Veterinary Medical Examination Revolving Fund. The Board, being
a self-sustaining regulatory board, is required to pay ten percent of its income to the General Revenue Fund.
The State Board of Medical Licensure prepared the budget and performed various administrative and investigative
functions for the Board of Veterinary Medical Examination until FY'93. At that time, the Legislature authorized the
Board to hire staff to perform its own administrative and investigative duties.
