Two austin singer/songwriters, Carrie Elkin and Danny Schmidt, will make a special performance at the Blue Door, along with Oklahoma native Jesse Aycock. Elkin has a gypsy spirit and her 2007 album, The Jeopardy of Circumstance, received rave reviews in the US and the UK and saw her shoot up the Euro-Americana Charts. She even landed on Bob Harris? national BBC Radio show. Carrie Elkin's new album, Call It My Garden, appears on on Grammy-winning folk label Red House Records. Danny Schmidt, who happened to help produce Elkin's record, is a stellar musician in his own right. He composes straight forward, bluesy, '60's coffee shop country and sings complex poetry over all of it. Oklahoma singer/songwriter Jesse Aycock?s folk music carries influences of early rock music, soul, and psychedelic as well as traditional folk music. His John Lennon-esque tenor vocals soar on his tracks, providing the listener with an emotional experience. Aycock plays acoustic and electric guitars, in addition to lap steel and pedal steel. He writes songs that capture the human condition, convey messages of love, and reflect his everyday life.
