The nonprofit Tulsa Children's Museum Family Concert Series presents multi-platinum artists The Verve Pipe. This pop sensation, founded by Michigan musicians Brian Vander Ark and Donny Brown in the 90s, gained national recognition for its textured rock songs distinguished by inventive arrangements, soul-searching lyrics and layered vocals. This band had a string of highly successful releases, including the hit radio single ''Photograph'', the #1 chart-busting ''Freshman'' (which won the ASCAP Pop Award), and ''Never Let You Down'', one of the most-played songs for Adult Top 40 and Modern Adult-Contemporary radio the year of its release. The band has been featured in Spin and Rolling Stone, and has had appearances on ''The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'' and ''Late Night with David Letterman. After an eight-year hiatus, original members Brown and Vander Ark were approached about writing some songs for a compilation album called Calling All Kids. This led to the band reforming in 2009 and creating their new record, A Family Album, a collection of ten songs intended for the entire family, with fun original lyrics set to the memorable melodies for which the band is known. The Verve Pipe was also announced that a new album of rock material would follow A Family Album. The band continues its energetic live performances, enjoyable for a cross-generational audience. Upbeat, positive messages mix with clever, playful lyrics. The Verve Pipe raises the bar for children's music with entertaining and insightful songwriting and skillful musicianship. The band will begin at 2:00 and play a second set at 4:00.
