The indie band The Nghiems is originally from Norman and named after brothers and band members, David and James Nghiem. The group began playing at local clubs and quickly worked their way up to showcases at Tulsa?s DiversaFest and Norman Music Festival. The Nghiems' 60's pop, indie-folk album is entitled The Pine Tree, The Mushroom & the End of the World. The tune ''Traveling Coat,'' is upbeat and merry while ''Morning'' hums with warm, fuzzy guitars. Their record falls in the space between despondency and dancing, inhabiting a calm and comfortable mood. The Nghiems' excellently written tunes sound familiar even on the first listen. Fans of alt-country like Wilco and indie ala Death Cab for Cutie will definitely find themselves enjoying The Nghiems.
