            Applications are available for Individuals and Institutions. The applications must be printed out and returned with an original signature of the certifying authority. We look forward to serving you.

     FREE MATTER FOR THE BLIND 

 

 

 

   Patrons must check out at least one book per year to remain active. Catalogs, bimonthly listings of available books, and special bibliographies to aid the patron in book selection are provided as part of the service.

 

          Reader Advisor Service. Professional librarians, also known as reader advisors, help patrons take advantage of all the collections in the library, which is comparable in size to a medium-sized public library. Patrons can discuss their reading preferences with a librarian and learn in what formats (cassette or braille) books, magazines, and other reading materials are available. They may request books by author, title, or subject. Patrons of the library receive their braille books from the NLS Multistate Center in Utah. Their toll-free number is 1-800-453-4293. Descriptive videos are also available. The library does not maintain a large print collection. Large print books are available at your local public library.    Magazines are also available. Contact Mable Stripling for more information or to order magazines and catalogs. 

 

          Machine Lending Agency. The library provides cassette machines specially designed for long-playing audio books. Patrons may check out these units, giving them access to a broad selection of books and magazines. Patrons may use these machines free of charge for an indefinite time as long as the patrons are actively involved in the reading program. Our in-house repair facility assures our patrons of prompt service. If you are having problems with your machine, call the library and ask for the Machine Room or email Daniel Simpson .

          Volunteer Services. Many volunteers record books not available from other sources - including student textbooks. Many Oklahoma authors have recorded their own books. Volunteers also provide clerical help and assist duplicating, rewinding, and repairing tapes.
